A photo a day by Alex Moorehead, all the way through the year 2011 All photos in the project will be taken and processed using an iphone.
Day 181
This photo was taken in the evening using the basic camera function on the iphone, I then processed it in the improved Iris photo app to create the old, worn effect you see here.
Day 180
This photo was taken outside the station in Seaton of Seaton tramway looking towards the ominous blue fencing of the Regeneration site, where in the next few weeks, a frame will emerge from the 60,000 sq ft Tesco supermarket that is being constructed there, something that I am documenting as one of my personal projects (not very personal now it has its own blog and has already been exhibited!) In the foreground in the middle of the flower bed is the stump of a tree that has been cut down due to water poisoning from the Infill process in the regeneration area, in order to raise the land by 2 metres (due to being on a flood plain) As the infill material imported from the Seabed in Wales dried, the salty, saline water had to escape somewhere and this was just one of the locations it escaped.
Day 179
Today's photo was taken while I was at a school sports day standing in the shade out of the heat. So I positioned the iphone with the Shakeitphoto app so that the people were all in a row staring down on the field below.
Day 178
This photo was taken as I was out walking. I couldn't believe that Mcdonalds made morning Porridge and cant imagine what it tastes like. The fact that someone discarded the box on the floor says it all.
Day 177
This photo was taken in the house of one of the statue type things in the house, by a window. I have taken photos of the same thing in different light conditions in the past, but today I shot it in daylight using the Pro HDR app and then processed it in the Noir Photo and Camerabag apps.
Day 176
This is an early evening photo that I took on the cliff top with the sun setting off to the right of this photo. I used the Pro HDR app to take the photo and then boosted the colors a bit in the Tiffen Photo FX app and then added the border in the Camerabag app.
Day 175
This photograph was taken using the Hipstamatic app on a secluded path in between a railway line and a ditch, that I used to walk down quite a lot in the last couple of years of school about 6-7 years back. I was just in the area at the time so I just decided to go back and see if it had changed at all, which it hadnt.
Day 174
This photo was taken of the sign that directs people to the small, museum type thing known as the bomb shelter, in the village of Beer Devon. After taking the photo, I further processed it in the Iris Photo app to give it a slightly aged look.
Day 173
This photo was taken down on the beach in Beer, Devon, early in the evening with all of the deckchairs left empty. The photo was taken using the Pro HDR app and then processed in the Photoforge 2 app.
Day 172
Today I went out in the morning down to the beach, to have another crack at long exposures with the iphone. This was one of the better results. One slight problem that I have discovered with long exposures on the iphone is that, even with a sturdy tripod, the foreground (still) objects are slightly out of focus. But as the iphone shouldn't do long exposures anyway, its not a huge problem!
Day 171
I took this photo in unsettled weather on the Beach in Beer, Devon, as the sea was quite rough. However I tested the bulb setting in the Slow shutter cam app after being a little skeptical. I took the photo for 3 minutes, leaving the concrete jetty in the foreground for extra interest and then pressed the 'shutter' button again to see this result, which I was impressed with considering that there is no physical shutter on an iphone. I then processed the photo in the Noir Photo app, to make it black and white, to match many similar long exposure photos of Seascapes iI have seen in the past from other photographers.
Day 170
This photo was taken late afternoon/early evening as I was walking home from taking some photographs of the regeneration site in Seaton, Devon. It was a basic camera shot on the iphone looking up a steep tree covered hill, with a few breaks for the light to stream through. I then processed the photo in the Camerabag app.
Day 169
For today's photo, I ventured off down to the beach early in the evening, when it was fairly quiet, and the rain for the day had all passed over, leaving clouds in the distance. I decided to use the Pro HDR app to shoot half of the boat and then processed it in the Noir Photo and Lo-Mob apps to create the black and white effect.
Day 168
Today, I went to see the incredible Senna movie at the Picture house in Exeter, on its first day showing there, obviously, you cant take photos inside the cinema part, so took a photo of the cardboard advertisement of the film, then boosted the colors a bit using the camerabag app on my iphone.
Day 167
This is an iphone photo that was taken of my twin lens reflex, 120 film camera, I placed it on a sheet of white A4 paper and then took a simple photo of it, leaving space to the right hand side of the image. I then softened the photo in the Photoshop express app before processing it again through the Noir camera app that I have recently downloaded, which gave the photo a slightly sepia tone.
Day 166
This is a photo taken in the middle of a more or less empty car park in Seaton Devon. I took it using the 360 pano app and then processed it as a stereoscopic image.
Day 165
As i didnt go out at all today or get up to much I decided to look around the house for some inspiration for a photo for the 365 project. There were lots of colored letters on the fridge/freezer so I used the Hipstamatic app to take a photo of them.
Day 164
This photo was taken with a combo of the Pro HDR and rather impressive WordFoto app, which creates the effect you see below, turning images into collages of different size words you choose to add to it.
Day 163
This photo was taken using the vint b&w app while sitting in the passenger seat of a car while driving through rainy foggy weather.
Day 162
This image for today, created out of one original photo of my brother's eye, was made in a mish mash of iphone photo apps, including Photoforge2, Diptic and Halftone.
Day 161
Taken using the Pro HDR and camerabag apps on my iphone, this photo was taken on an unsettled stormy day on Beer beach in Devon. The beach reflected the weather, with not too many people using it as dark rain clouds gathered overhead.
Day 160
This photo was taken mid evening as I was walking through the village on the way home. It was just taken of a building comprised of different architecture and was processed in the plastic bullet and shakeitphoto apps, in order to give it an aged look.
Day 159
This is a photo processed in the shakeitphoto app of part of Seaton, Devon, which is undergoing major change. The blue and white building (the old youth centre) is due to be demolished in a few months time to make way for a pedestrian entrance to a new Tesco Supermarket, which is going to be built within the confines of the blue fence to the left hand side of the photo.
Day 158
I waited till it was dark until I took this photo. What I did was use a keyring torch to point light down on the light switch and then used the Vint B&W app to take the photo. I then tweaked it again in the Swankolab app to add the vignette effect.
Day 157
This is a photo that I took on a sunny afternoon while walking along west walk in Seaton, Devon. I loved the vibrance of the photo, but gave it a painterly effect in the Photoforge 2 app and then gave it a poster affect in the Phoster app, to give this final result.
Day 156
This photo was taken near one of the pedestrian entrances/exits to Axminster Tesco, where people abandon their trolleys in the middle of the path. The photo was taken using the hipstamatic app.
Day 155
Today's photo, was taken at night, with me shining a keyring torch (powerful one) at the vauxhall corsa advert thing (c'mon!) and then I processed the photo in the toon paint app, to give the photo a more cartoon type effect.
Day 154
This photo was taken inside a multi storey car park, with morning sunlight streaming through the gaps on the left of the car park. I processed the photo in the plastic bullet app.
Day 153
This photo was taken looking down the rather daunting set of steps on East cliff in Branscombe devon. I am not the biggest fan of heights, so getting to the top of this cliff is an accomplishment for me.
Day 152 (1/6/11)
The first day of June was an overall good day for me. No ticket money for Olympic tickets I had applied for went out of the bank account, which was slightly annoying, but later in the day, I received the tickets for the British grand prix at Silverstone, which made the day. The photos from that day will appear in this project in just over a month!
