A photo a day by Alex Moorehead, all the way through the year 2011 All photos in the project will be taken and processed using an iphone.
Day 151
This photo was taken outside the entrance to the disused Seaton junction station in Devon. I then made two versions of the photo, one with the darkest parts of the photo and one with the brightest. Then I merged them together using the Pro HDR app to get this image.
Day 150
So this is the 150th photo of the project, which came quite unexpectedly. Basically there was a rally of over 100 vintage tractors that passed my house, so I decided to photograph them going past using the hipstamatic app on my iphone. Some were rubbish, and others were alright. I decided to use this image after seeing the expression of the boy in the trailer seemingly staring at me, possibly wondering what I was holding up in my hands (an iphone!) Still not quite half way through the year though so there are going to be plenty more surprises etc along the way.
Day 149
There was a lack of inspiration today, so I just used the shakeitphoto app to take this simple image of a pink cup with a smiley face on it, i'm sure tomorrow more inspiration will come for the 150th photo. It's crazy thinking im still not halfway into the project.
Day 148
This photo was taken from the iphone while watching the champions league final match between Barcelona and Manchester United on my laptop.
Day 147
This photo was taken as I was on my travels, where I took the photo of the VW car under the shade of the trees. It was taken with the basic iphone camera, and I didn't see the flare from the sun until I reviewed the photos when I got home. To just add to the image, I post processed it in the camerabag app, which darkened both sides of the photo slightly adding more emphasis on the car and the flare from the sun.
Day 146
This is something I spotted next to a rubbish skip the previous day, but I decided to photograph it today with the iphone. It just seemed odd having a dartboard dumped on gravel all on its own, with a skip right next to it, so I had to photograph it before it disappeared or got thrown into the skip.
Day 145
This photo was taken in the Byes in Sidmouth, where I used a combination of both the hipstamatic and autostitch apps to create this panoramic photo of the bridge crossing the river.
Day 144
This photo is a bit of a quick candid photo that I took while pushing a shopping trolley with the sunlight coming in from the left to right creating the shadows to the right of the photo. I then processed the photo in the camerabag app.
Day 143
This is another photo taken using the hipstamatic app looking onto the regeneration site in Seaton, where you can see diggers loading dumper trucks with sand infill in order to raise the height of the whole site to two metres, ready for construction work on site to begin. More photos I have taken in and around the site can be found at my other blog which can be found in the links section from my main website.
Day 142
This photo was taken of part of the railway at Pecorama at Beer. What I did with the photo was cropped it to square format in the Photoforge2 app and then converted it to black and white before adding the white border to it all using the same app.
Day 141
Today I was again testing the new Bondi Hipstapak on the Hipstamatic app on the iphone 3gs. This shot was taken of a couple looking out over Beer beach. One thing I like is that the border for this combo in hipstamatic always changes ever so slightly, leaving a certain element of surprise in it. For tomorrow photo, I imagine it will be something to do with the photoforge 2 app, which at first glance, seems to be very powerful and well worth the introductory 59p/99c i paid for it.
Day 140
This photo was taken of the chain area of a rusting bike. I used the hipstamatic app and the new Bondi hipstapak which is an add on for the app, which creates the tones and the border for the photo.
Day 139
Motivation to do anything somewhat lacked today, so the photo I took was in the kitchen of some mushrooms in their container. But to make a change to the photo, I made a stereoscopic image of it so that you can view it in 3D with a pair of red and blue 3D glasses.
Day 138
This is a photo of a sculpted rock on Beer beach in Devon, which I decided to give a humorous twist with the use of the Half Tone iphone app, which gives photos a cartoon style effect. I had other images from the iphone today, but used this one due to the fact that this rock sits at the bottom of a cliff, which crumbles quite a lot, with no guarantee that this rock wont be buried tomorrow or in a few weeks or months.
Day 137
This photo was taken on a grass bank while on a walk this afternoon, it is of some large daisys that were in a tight bunch in one area, where they never usually grow. I took the photo using the new free 'lens' that was provided with an update in the Hipstamatic iphone app.
Day 136
This photo was taken as I was using my digital slr on a tripod to do long exposure photos on Beer beach. I shone a small but powerful Led torch onto the camera so that the iphone camera could pick it up.
Day 135
This photo was taken while I was out trying to take multiple exposures on my digital slr from Beer head looking towards Seaton and the Dorset coast in the distance. I rested the iphone horizontally on the top of the camera tripod and used the Pro HDR app to create this exposure which exposed the landscape, sea and sky perfectly.
Day 134
Today's photo was taken of a lego x-wing model that I had built. I placed it on top of a piece of paper and pointed the iphone down at the top of the model, so you could see it and some of it's shadow. I finished the photo off by processing it in the shakeitphoto app.
Day 133
This photo was taken using the instagram app while walking down a quite footpath that I havnt walked down for years. What is good about it is that the path is rather secluded and out of the way so it is rather untouched and peaceful.
Day 132
This photo was taken using the Pro HDR app on Beer beach in east Devon, England. I took the photo at this angle as it is a fresh perspective and it never hurts to break the rules sometimes, as long as the viewer can see that it is intentional. The use of the pro hdr app just brings out the perfect color and light in both the foreground with the boats and the beach and the background with the sea and the sky. The bright effect behind the boats, caused by the HDR I think adds to the effect of the photo which I quite like.
Day 131
This photo was taken at low tide on the beach at Seaton Hole looking towards Seaton, where storm clouds were gathering overhead. The photo wa taken using the Pro HDR app and then processed in the camerabag app.
Day 130
This photo was taken while walking along the beach, where over the past few days lots of seaweed etc has been washed ashore. Though I did not expect to see this freezer minus it's door washed up!
Day 129
This photograph was taken looking up at a telegraph pole with wires going in all directions from it. I then processed it to get the light leak effect in the Plastic Bullet app.
Day 128
This is a self portrait taken while on a 4 mile run in sunny weather, I used a combo of the camerabag and shakeitphoto apps to get this result.
Day 127
Taken in drizzly May weather on west walk in Seaton, Devon, this shakeitphoto image is of the row of multicolored beach huts that face the beach.
Day 126
Taken mid evening as as storm clouds were heading towards me. I managed to escape the worst of it by the time I got home, but still got quite wet. Taken using the Pro Hdr app and then changed to black and white using the Photoshop Express app.
Day 125
This photo was taken using the basic built in Iphone camera app of the local Polling Station, and then processed in the Spica and shakeitphoto apps.
Day 124
This photograph was taken looking along the tramway in Seaton, Devon, with a sand surcharge mountain, part of the regeneration site in the background. The photo was taken using the Pro HDR app.
Day 123
This is a photo taken on the iphone today, that I have played around with a bit in the photostudio app. Basically what it was originally was a grassy field and blue sky, which I then gave a vertical blur to give the photo a more abstract effect. Then I placed over the image one of the built in water textures from the app to finish it off.
Day 122
This photo was taken inside a red telephone box that i seem to walk past every day, so for todays photo, I decided to go inside and take a photo. It felt very unused, there was a musty smell and spiders webs were coating the ceiling of the phone box. I used the Helga filter in the camerabag app to give the image a square crop and slightly vignetted outline.
Day 121 (1/5/11)
This photo was taken today outside the regeneration site in Seaton. I noticed outside the entrance that they had put a union jack and george flag up, due to the royal wedding a couple of days ago, I though it was a nice touch. This photo was then edited in the color blast app to remove some of the distracting colors in the image.
